|
A focus on structure and a sense of fluidity lend the ready-to-wear and footwear Thomas Tait conceives for his eponymous women’s fashion label a clear and inimitable design aesthetic. Tait, 23, is based in London. He was born in Montreal, Canada where he completed a three-year technical diploma at La Salle College’s International School of Fashion, Arts and Design in 2008. He became the youngest student to complete the women’s wear MA program at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design upon graduating in February 2010.

Tait presented his spring/summer 2011 collection at East London’s Wilkinson Gallery in September 2010 and, with it, he presented a line of leather handbags he created for ASOS Inc. This scheme encourages emerging and established designers to develop their businesses by introducing new product lines which, in their first season, are exclusively sold on ASOS.com, the UK’s largest online-only fashion and beauty store.

On May 4 2011, he presented a selection from his autumn/winter 2011 collection, which debuted during London Fashion Week in February 2011. Additionally, Thomas Tait has also received the support of London’s Centre for Fashion Enterprise and the British Fashion Council’s NEWGEN scheme, which nurtures up and coming designers.
