14 February 2014 - 12 March 2014
The Opera National de Paris will bring Puccini’s beloved and timeless opera, Madama Butterfly, to the stage this winter.
The tremendous setting of the Opéra Bastille will play host to this production of the Japanese-inspired opera in three acts – one of the most beautiful and tragic stories in all of opera. Based on the play by David Belasco and with original music by Giacomo Puccini, the contemplative work contrasts with the dynamism of Puccini’s usual repertoire: episodes of stark silence contrast with poignant song. Bob Wilson is the producer behind this sensitive production, with the renowned Svetla Vassileva playing the title role.
