Christmas Midnight Mass at Notre Dame

24 December 2013
A special Midnight Mass will be held at Paris’ glorious
Notre Dame Cathedral this year, in honour of the church’s 850th
anniversary.

While Christmas Eve Midnight Mass takes place at historic
churches across the city, the service at Notre Dame is by far the most popular.
This year is certain to be even more high profile than usual, given the
cathedral’s special anniversary, with crowds expected to appear from around 9
PM. The striking Gothic cathedral, famous for its large organ and brilliant
rose window, makes for a magical setting for the nativity celebrations. Films
and choral performances are scheduled to entertain early attendees, while
Cardinal André XXIII, the Archbishop of Paris, will lead the Midnight Mass.
