Last Chance: The Springtime of the Renaissance – Sculpture and Art in Florence, 1400-1460

Conceived of as a follow-up to several recent exhibitions on
leading artists of the High Renaissance, this new exposition will chart the
initial flowering of this creative period.

Covering a period from 1400-1460 and focusing primarily on
sculptural works, the new show will examine the origins of this important
period in history. Comprising over 140 different artworks, the exhibition will
aim to provide a sweeping look at Florence and its artistic output. Some of the
show highlights will include sculptures by Donatello, works by Ghiberti and
Luca della Robbia, as well as influential painted works by Masaccio, Filippo
Lippi, and Andrea del Castagno. The show will also seek to couch this creative
period in history, examining artists’ Classical influences as well as a number
of preceding medieval works.
