Opera: The Magic Flute

Opening for the first time in the US, a new, cutting-edge production of Mozart’s beloved work is arriving at LA Opera.

British avant-garde theatre group 1927, known for their experimental technique of combining on-stage acting with film, are behind this innovative stage production of The Magic Flute. The two-act opera combines live vocalists with striking visual animations and magic tricks to conjure up Mozart’s enchanting world, and stars LA Opera newcomer Lawrence Brownlee as Tamino. Experimental Australian opera director Barrie Kosky will also make his American debut with this production. James Conlon, LA Opera’s musical director and conductor, will present a one-hour talk before each performance.
