Schioppetto- Podere dei Blumeri Rosso,  Friuli Venezia Giulia IGT, Italy (Merlot, Refosco, Cabernet Sauvignon) 2008
This enticing ruby-red wine has hints of blueberry, tobacco and eucalyptus, along with licorice and cherry. It’s a great match for mixed grilled meat, or a hearty goose stew.

J. Hofstatter Barthenau Vigna S Urbano, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy (Pinot Nior) 2010 
This distinctive Pinot Noir from Alto Adige is a rich and lively pomegranate-coloured wine, with a scent of irises, sour cherries, graphite and a light, pink pepper spicy note. It’s the ideal accompaniment to rustic dishes such, as pappardelle with hare ragout or roasted pork and potatoes.
