Our general manager for 45 Park Lane has lived in London for the past 35 years. Hear what epitomises this great city for him and how he likes to spend his time in the capital.

What do you love most about London?

I adore all the new tall buildings that have transformed the city skyline over the past 15 years. It’s changed beyond recognition from the London that I moved to many years ago. Like a compass to guide me, I always like to look out for the familiar sites of the Houses of Parliament, Nelson’s Column and St Paul’s Cathedral.

What’s your recommendation for first time visitors to London?

I always suggest walking around as much as you can, it’s by far the best way to experience London and get a real feel for all that this amazing city has to offer.

What epitomises London for you?

It’s the wonderful sense of history, the royal family and the city’s diverse arts and culture.

What’s your ideal day off in London?

A sunny Sunday morning at Columbia Road Flower Market with a cup of coffee, enjoying the sounds of East London and the lively buzz of the market.

What do you love most about 45 Park Lane?

How small and intimate the hotel is and I know this is something our guests appreciate too. I’m able to make sure that every little detail is just right, so we consistently deliver the most personalised and natural service to a level that is truly five-star.

What’s your favourite dish at the hotel?

I have simple tastes, so I usually choose a butter lettuce salad at CUT at 45 Park Lane. When it comes to cocktails, it has to be a Negroni at BAR 45 as we’re known for ‘the best Negronis in town’.

What do guests always ask you?

They enjoy hearing about life in London and are keen to know the latest shows to see what the best restaurants are. My team and I are always happy to help with suggestions.

What’s your favourite area of the city?

That would have to be Highgate, which is where I live. It’s been described as the most ‘village like’ part of London and it certainly feels that way, with beautiful parks, a fascinating history and great views across the city of London.

What interests you?

I’m always on the lookout for the next great talent in the music industry. I love spotting someone’s potential before they become an international star.  If I wasn’t running 45 Park Lane, I would like to be a successful writer, artist or architect – something that requires a passion for detail.

JazzMi - Milan Events Guide Hotel Principe di Savoia

If you were to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

Caring, passionate and quirky.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Work and a desire to not waste the day. You only get so many days in a lifetime so make the most of them.
