What are the must-see places in Los Angeles?
Catching a concert at the Hollywood Bowl is a must, the atmosphere it always amazing. For the most incredible views across the city, take a trip to the Griffith Observatory or hike up to the famous Hollywood sign.
What’s your favourite museum?
I can’t pick just one! I love the huge variety of art collections and exhibitions at the Getty Center, they also have beautiful gardens which are well-worth exploring. The Broad is another favourite of mine and a must for contemporary art fans.
What do you do when you’re not working?
I love spending time with my two Coton de Tulear dogs, either relaxing at home or taking long walks along the Coyote Trail in Holmby Park. I also like to really get away from it all by cycling near the ocean at Santa Monica, there really is nothing as invigorating as being by the ocean.
Who or what inspires you?
“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” This thought provoking quote from acclaimed writer Maya Angelou is something that really struck me when I first heard it and still resonates with me.
How do you relax after work?
I find exercise a healthy and effective way to unwind, and I’m particularly fond of yoga as it helps to keep me centred. Sometimes though, I prefer to opt for a chilled glass of Ruinart rosé champagne, which also does the trick!
Best thing about living in Los Angeles?
For me and many of our guests at Hotel Bel-Air, it has to be the climate. The year-around sunshine and warm weather allows plenty of opportunity to explore all the great beaches, hiking and other outdoor activities. For a change of scene and temperature, you can be in the mountains in less than an hour.
Having been general manager for Hotel Bel-Air for many years now, I have a great emotional attachment to the hotel and Los Angeles. I trust you’ll feel the same way too when you visit us.
