Festive Afternoon Tea at Hotel Eden
A little bit of London has just arrived in Rome. In time for the festive season, Hotel Eden is launching a celebratory afternoon tea, in collaboration with sister hotel The Dorchester in London, which is well-known for its award-winning afternoon teas.
On arrival at Hotel Eden you soon discover what a wonderfully welcoming area La Libreria is. Situated just off the lobby, it’s a popular place for guests to relax, take a break, or enjoy a little indulgence.
Now, following the launch of a new pop-up Festive Afternoon Tea, you’ll also find beautiful decorations, fine food and live cello performances, and on Sundays throughout December a gospel choir is performing.
Arthur Dumait, Maitre at La Libreria says, “I find this area of the hotel a really cosy spot and thought it would make an ideal location for an indulgent afternoon tea. Inspired by my time working at our sister hotel The Dorchester, which has a long tradition of famous award-winning afternoon teas, I contacted my colleagues in London to ask for their assistance with plans to launch our own version. As masters of turning this daily ritual into a special occasion they were delighted to help.”
Afternoon tea isn’t a tradition in Rome but it’s a tempting alternative to a classic ‘aperitivo’ and a great opportunity to give our guests something special and in the run up to Christmas, when every day is a celebration.
To add authenticity to the experience, Petar Loncar, Promenade manager at The Dorchester, was invited to Hotel Eden to share his secrets to serving afternoon tea, having honed his skills over the past ten years. He has also shared the recipe for The Dorchester’s famous homemade scones, a much-loved highlight of their afternoon tea experience.
For the festive season our Michelin-starred executive chef, Fabio Ciervo, has created a series of delightful pastries. These delicious sweet treats feature some of the finest regional Italian ingredients, including grapefruit from Lazio, hazelnuts from Langhe and apples from Campania. Chef Ciervo is a great believer in cooking with locally sourced seasonal produce and loved creating the new pastries. His mini millefeuille with Chantilly cream and raspberries is irresistible, as are the apple financiers with cinnamon. There’s also chance to enjoy a glass of champagne or a typical Italian Christmas panettone, carved from our trolley – what better way to finish your Festive Afternoon Tea.
