This annual celebration is a chance for locals and visitors alike to experience the city at its finest.
The ten-day event, which attracts more than two million visitors, kicks off with a celebration of Swiss National Day, bringing together world-class dining, free open-air concerts, a craft market and funfair for big and little kids alike.
With so much to do, we’ve rounded-up some of the best events you won’t want to miss.
Food & drink
More than 100 food stalls are scattered throughout the festival with a host of delicious food options to satisfy even the fussiest of eaters. Visitors can enjoy food from Thailand, Vietnam, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Lebanon, India, Mauritius, Portugal and Italy, as well as local Swiss produce. You’ll also find several showstopping dessert options for those with a sweet tooth.
Head towards the Quai Gustave-Ador, on the south-side promenade, where you can discover a beer garden serving beers from across the globe. With views overlooking stunning Lake Geneva, it’s the ideal place to spend a relaxed afternoon with friends. Listen out for live entertainment provided by local musicians.
At the Festijeux on the rotunda of the Bains des Pâquis, kids of all ages can enjoy a host of fun activities. There’s a selection of slides and trampolines, plus a dazzling funfair the whole family can enjoy.
Music plays a huge part in the festival and throughout the city there’s a nod to every musical genre including Latin, techno, reggae, jazz, pop and rock. Dance enthusiasts will love Casa Latina, a space dedicated to Latin music and dance to get you in the party mood. Grab a partner and cha-cha the night away. If you’re seeking a more chilled vibe, head to the intimate setting of Ile Rousseau for some jazz.
The grand finale takes place on Saturday, August 12, when the city puts on a spectacular fireworks display, which illuminates the skies surrounding Lake Geneva for the festival’s biggest show.
