Live a new suite life at Le Meurice

July 26, 2019

Lally & Berger are a young design duo fast gaining an excellent reputation for creating elegant and audacious interiors, with a passion for French craftsmanship. We caught up with them to hear all about their latest project at Le Meurice.

Couple’s collaboration

Partners in business and in life, design duo Margaux Lally and Luc Berger, the creative genius behind interior design studio Lally & Berger, were the chosen designers for our latest rooms and suites project. They work in close collaboration with Les Ateliers Jouffre, who has created lavish interiors for Le Meurice for over ten years. Like designer Charles Jouffre, Lally & Berger share the same golden for exceeding guests’ expectations. The couple continue to make their mark on our historic hotel in the same stylish way they created the now highly sought-after Pompadour Suite.

Opposites attract

Margaux and Luc readily admit their opposing personalities inspire them during the creative process. They bounce around ideas until they form a coherent vision, one that brings a fresh identity to whatever project they approach. Their aim is always to provide a certain ‘Je ne sais quoi’ and to place exceptional Parisian craftsmanship firmly in the spotlight..

Dream location

All of the newly-restored suites give you the whole of Paris within one enchanted gaze. Each one enjoys its own unique view out across the famous Tuileries Garden, the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower and beyond. You’ll be in no doubt that you’re in the first district of the City of Light, as day turns to night and the landmarks are lit up before your very eyes.

The new vision

Inspiration for the 29 new rooms and suites took hold when the designers conjured with the enthralling idea of what a modern-day Versailles would look and feel like if it was created now. They were intrigued by Le Meurice’s strong links to Versailles but determined to introduce a far more contemporary feel, sprinkled with unexpected touches to ensure an element of surprise.

Margaux says, “We strived for a sense of wherever your eye rests there’s beauty to behold. Think elegance, eclecticism and a dash of playfulness.”

Parisian splendour

The new designs offer a completely different perspective and are a celebration of the hotel’s true spirit.

Luc explains, “We believe we’ve created something sophisticated yet audacious, designed to play on the abundance of natural light. A tactile array of the finest French fabrics, including silk, damask and velvet, cover furnishings and frame dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows. Amongst the many artworks relating to the history of Paris and Le Meurice, you might spot a historic map of the Tuileries Garden, or a flower or fashion that was favoured at Versailles.”

The next step

For the grand finale to this exciting project, the designers are now focussing all their efforts on the spectacular Belle Etoile Suite. This will be the epitome of style and artisanal French craftsmanship. True to her name, this seventh-floor penthouse suite, crowning our famous Mansard roof, will be a beacon of elegance from where the 360° view of Paris will become an eternal memory. Prepare to be dazzled by its huge terrace, which has been reimagined by Lally & Berger, in collaboration with Pierre Alexandre Risser, to mirror the beauty of the Tuileries Gardens below.

We invite you to be one of the first to experience the beauty and exceptional comfort of our new rooms and suites at Le Meurice.

Times are changing at Le Meurice and it’s all waiting for you to discover.

It’s time to take another look.
