Live the Italian dream in Milan

April 10, 2018

Alfa Romeo is synonymous with the city of Milan and Italian style. Ever since it was founded in 1910 on the outskirts of the city, the name has conjured up visions of sleek design, equally admired by both motorsport enthusiasts and super-car lovers.

Take to the road

Set yourself up for the day with a leisurely breakfast at our Acanto Restaurant before getting behind the wheel of a classic Alfa Romeo 4C Spider. If you’re new to Milan, take a little tour around the city to get a feel for the place and see some sights en route. Now it’s time to really see what your car can do by heading out of the city and travelling to nearby Arese. If the weather is good it’s a chance to feel the wind in your hair by taking the top back, sunglasses are optional but highly recommended!

Masters of style

Once you reach Arese, park up at the famous Alfa Romeo museum and take a tour of this fascinating place to learn how Alfa Romeo became a firm fixture in Italy’s heart. Car lovers from around the world come here to pay homage to the revolutionary designs of this legendary brand.

Step back in time as you tour the impressive displays, including rare models and little-known experimental prototypes. See some of the earliest models such as the Alfa 6C 1950 Gran Sport, winner of the Mille Miglia, and the Gran Premio 159 ‘Alfetta’ that triumphed in Formula One. You’ll also spot the creative 1960s concept cars designed by Bertone and discover many different models of the Spider throughout the years. There’s also a test track and showroom if you find yourself seriously tempted.

Carry on to Lake Como

Having had a busy morning, it’s time to start thinking about lunch. Lake Como is within easy reach, so how about driving to the picturesque village of Nesso, on the shores of the lake, to enjoy some typical local dishes the area is famous for.

Be sure to look out for beautiful villas, castles and monasteries on the way.  After lunch, complete your tour with a trip to Bellagio, affectionately known as the ‘pearl of the lake. Take in the stunning lake views, wander the narrow cobbled streets and explore the main piazza. When you’re ready, refuel yourself with an espresso before heading back in your Alfa Romeo 4C Spider to the comfort of Hotel Principe di Savoia.

If this feels like your idea of a memorable trip, take a look at our Driving Experience and live the Italian dream.
