Letters straight from the heart

December 22, 2022

As part of our celebrations of 110 years of The Beverly Hills Hotel, here’s a selection of some of the many heartfelt love letters shared by our cherished guests and neighbours – a wonderful way to highlight our hotel’s long legacy and bright future.

Making history

“You are our gem and place of magic in the community. You are landmarked in our city #1, as you began our visionary path to make our city the place to visit and give the sense of ‘home’ with heart.”

Lili Bosse
Mayor of Beverly Hills

Hollywood’s leading lady

“Many of the films that I produced or green-lighted were first pitched at the Polo Lounge. I have been a patron and a fan since I was in my 30s, and I’ll continue to be a regular for the rest of my life.”

Sherry Lansing
First woman to run a Hollywood studio

Generations of memories

“Five generations of Sarnoffs have frequented The Beverly Hills Hotel, starting with General David Sarnoff back in the 1940s. Over five decades, I’ve had countless meals, numerous staycations, business meetings, drinks and job interviews here. The Beverly Hills Hotel isn’t just a hotel for me; it’s a part of my soul.”

James David Sarnoff

Love at first sight

“Growing up as a New Yorker who had to travel to LA often for work, some dear friends suggested I stay with you one trip. I checked-in and the rest is history.”

Stewart Shining
Photographer

Home away from home

“As your neighbour of forty years, you have nourished us in your coffee shop, entertained us in your Polo Lounge, and your leafy walls of paradise have been our home away from home.”

The Bell Family

Childhood residence

“In the early 1970s, my father’s job transplanted us from Manhattan to Los Angeles by way of The Beverly Hills Hotel. We lived here for several months, firmly lodging the façade’s iconic flamingo pink, and those emerald green stylised palm fronds adorning the interior walls, as the first colours in my memory bank. From my happier childhood memories to delighting us on the darkest days, a constant on my horizon is, and always will be, this singular Pink Palace.”

Cynthia Rosenfeld

The Beverly Hills Hotel first opened its doors on May 12, 1912. Now, 110 years later, we’re humbled to remain at the heart of the Beverly Hills community. From locals to legendary guests around the world, we’ve been incredibly moved by the sentiments shared in these and all the other many letters we’ve received. We are carefully archiving each one for future generations to enjoy.
