Compartés chocolate
Tangy orange peel dipped in smooth milk chocolate, truffles painted with swaying palm trees and peony pink bars are just some of the treats you can find at Compartés, a boutique chocolatier in Fairfax. Once favoured by Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra and Winston Churchill, Compartés was taken over by Beverly Hills’ local and chocolate prodigy, Jonathan Grahm, when he was just 15. His innovative recipes and packaging designs have since featured in Washington DC’s Smithsonian Museum. Unwrap a gift box and discover edible artwork handmade in Compartés’ kitchen, only in LA.

Homeware at Tesoro
Sink into a plush armchair and leaf through LA’s Legendary Restaurants in Tesoro, a family-run lifestyle boutique in Beverly Hills. The book is part of Tesoro’s LA Living collection, which also features yellow gold and diamond star drop earrings. Both make a sophisticated gift exclusively from LA, especially when wrapped in Tesoro’s signature matching ribbons and bows. You can also browse picture frames, intricately carved geranium soap and eye-catching flower-inspired vases.

Crafted at The Port of LA
More than 130 individual artists have injected new life into the restored 1940s warehouses in Los Angeles’ port area. Today the area is home to a craft brewery and Crafted – a weekend market specialising in beautifully handmade goods. Here you can join a masterclass, meet the makers and peruse a wide selection of stalls. Products range from handwoven rugs and preserves made with locally grown fruit, to murals created by local sign painter Lindsay Sochar.

Eco products at Rewilder
Rewilder’s name is inspired by Yellowstone National Park’s successful efforts to reintroduce grey wolves into the wild after they were over-hunted to the brink of extinction. Founded by architect and design entrepreneur, Jennifer Silbert, the team collaborates with LA institutions such as LA Phil and breathes life back into waste materials, upcycling banners into must-have beach bags and other zero-waste products by hand in LA.

Made Solid’s bags and belts
For a special keepsake of your trip to LA, visit Made Solid in east Hollywood, which specialises in leather. As well as bags and belts, co-founder Peter Maxwell designs vases wrapped in leather on site. He also hosts workshops, where you can create a leather tray, tanned with oak bark, to take home. Influenced by LA’s Mexican diaspora and West African community, he also displays woollen rugs and antique statues made and sourced by his friends. Peter and co-founder Mia believe in connecting with the creators they work with, an empathy that shines through in their products.
