Romance secrets of Paris

April 01, 2022

With its tree-lined avenues, cobbled streets and iconic architecture, it’s no wonder Paris is seen as the ultimate destination for a romantic city break. We asked our concierge team for their favourite hidden spots, and to recommend unique ways to explore the city.

Make a wish at the Medici Fountain

The grand Italian-inspired Medici Fountain in the Jardin du Luxembourg is a beautiful landmark in the 6th arrondisement, which attracts visitors hoping to throw a coin and make their wishes come true.

Snap a photo at Jehan-Rictus Square

At first glance a small, unassuming area of greenery in Montmartre, Jehan-Rictus Square has become known for one unique feature – the Wall of Love. This work of artists Frédéric Baron and Claire Kito, a tiled wall with ‘I love you’ written 311 times in 250 different languages – is the perfect spot for a photo.

Soak up the sun in Place des Vosges

As one of the oldest and most beautiful squares in Paris, this is the place to be for taking a quiet moment to relax and enjoy the sunshine. Amble along the tree-lined walkways, past picturesque fountains and marvel at the elegant architecture of the red brick façades.

Take a boat tour on Bois de Boulogne lake

Set amidst a vast 2,090 acres of landscaped gardens, the beautiful Bois de Boulogne is an oasis of greenery on the edge of the city. After spending the day wandering around the gardens, there’s no better way to relax with a loved one than taking a boat ride across the calm waters of the Lac Inferieur.

Stroll along the Seine

No visit to Paris would be complete without walking by the Seine. Take in the sights of the iconic landmarks with an afternoon stroll along the banks, or head out later and watch the Eiffel Tower sparkle as night falls and the city comes to life.

Steal a kiss on the bridge of Parc Monceau

Located in the 8th arrondisement near Boulevard de Courcelles, Parc Monceau is a public park with curved walkways, lush greenery and pretty statues. As such, it makes a perfect spot for a romantic stroll, and one stone bridge in particular is a must-see for its picturesque setting.

Immortalize a moment at Pont des Arts

Paris’s famous ‘love lock’ bridge is a classic architectural example of Parisienne-chic style. This second incarnation of an irreparably damaged 19th century original is a delicate yet distinguished addition to the impressive cityscape that surrounds it. The fragility of the bridge led to the removal of the metal padlocks in 2015, but the views remain as romantic as ever.

See the Eiffel Tower sparkle

Head up the impressive staircase on avenue de Camoëns in the 16th arrondissement for one of the best views of the Eiffel Tower without the crowds. Time your visit on the hour when the Iron Lady sparkles in all her glory for a picture perfect moment you’ll never forget.

Portrait painting in Montmartre

Place du Tertre, the main square in the old village of Montmartre, is famous throughout the world for its painters and pretty terraces. Settle in as one of the artists captures your portrait or simply take in the scenic surroundings at one of the many classic Parisian cafés.
