The Berkshire Golf Club
Established in 1928 and laid out across 372 acres of stunning Crown Estate heathland, the two golf courses at The Berkshire were designed by Herbert Fowler and are widely regarded as some of the best places to play in Britain. Whether you decide to tee off on the Berkshire Blue or the Berkshire Red, both heather-lined courses beautifully blend into the natural beauty of the landscape while offering subtle challenges for new and experienced golfers alike. Relax after an enjoyable afternoon in the smart Main Bar or – if you can’t tear your eyes away from the emerald-green grass – sit on the terrace for stunning views of the first hole on the Blue Course.

Swinley Forest Golf Club
Proof that the area around Coworth Park is spoilt for choice when it comes to great greens, Swinley Forest is another of the country’s most celebrated courses and located just a few miles from The Berkshire. As part of Windsor Great Park, the area is dotted with mature pines and framed by resplendent azaleas and rhododendrons. Established in 1909, it’s been humbly described by golf architect Harry Colt as his ‘least bad course’. See for yourself with a mid-week round when the private members’ club opens its doors to guests. When you’ve finished, retire to the 19th hole and one of the most attractive clubhouses around – the timber and brick structure is just as handsome as the course.

Lavender Park Golf Club
Golfers of all standards can receive coaching and plenty of expert support at this nine-hole course. Book an appointment for a custom fitting to learn more about your ‘swing DNA’ and receive bespoke recommendations as to which clubs will enable you to hit straighter and more consistent shots. There’s also the opportunity to receive an extra helping hand during a session with the innovative RoboGolfPro – a robotic swing trainer. Depending on the area of your game you want to work on, lessons can be scheduled to take place on the 24-bay floodlit driving range, the putting green, the chipping green or on the course. And, in case anything should go wrong, a team of PGA Professionals are ready and waiting in the on-site workshop to carry out any repairs.

Sunningdale Golf Club
One of the UK’s most respected golf clubs, Sunningdale is home to two different but ultimately complementary courses. Designed to sit amid the undulating Berkshire countryside more than 100 years ago by Willie Park Jnr, the ‘old course’ is regarded by many enthusiasts as one of the most attractive inland courses in the country. With its heather banks, cross bunkers and generous layout, it presents plenty of obstacles for putters and long-hitters. While next door, the ‘new course’ was created by revered golf architect Harry Colt with the aim of presenting players with a serious but always enjoyable challenge. As a result, it’s no wonder the courses at this stunning 36-hole golf club are regularly ranked among the world’s top 30 golfing destinations.

Windlesham Golf Club
Designed by former Ryder Cup winner Tommy Horton, and sitting pretty in the Surrey countryside, many of the greens on this par 72 parkland course are overlooked by ancient trees, while, at its highest point, the course provides breath-taking views of the surrounding area. Even if you don’t have time to take on two loops of the nine-hole course, a 274m/898ft driving range, bunkered short game area and putting green are all kept in pristine condition and ready to help you hone your skills. In addition, the team at Windlesham academy use high-speed digital camera and state-of-the-art coaching software to provide training advice.
