The Run to Monaco
January 29, 2019

Overlooking the iconic Eiffel Tower on one side and Dior, Yves- Saint-Laurent and Chanel on the other, every window of Hôtel Plaza Athénée is adorned with bright red geraniums. Our luxurious hotel is the exquisite setting for the start of your adventure. Take your place at the glamorous welcome party in our enchanting internal courtyard, surrounded by sweeping greenery. Expect the finest food and a whole host of performers to transport you back to Paris’s elegant belle époque era.
Day two
The race starts with a line-up of 40 of some of the world’s most prestigious supercars on avenue Montaigne, before heading alongside the River Seine and past the Eiffel Tower. Your journey then takes you south to the Loire Valley, a UNESCO world heritage site that’s rich in historic castles, to enjoy a feast fit for a king. After lunch it’s on to Burgundy, home of exceptional wine. In the pretty town of Beaune settle into Hotel Le Cep, a charming family run property made up of several mansions joined by secret passages. It’s the perfect place to sample some of the best vintages the region has to offer.

Day three
Following a fantastic drive through the Jura Mountains, take a break for lunch with local delicacies including Comté and Morbier cheese, surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. Next up are The Alps as you drive south of Lake Geneva and on to the higher mountains of the Aravis range, arriving at the quaint Alpine village of Megève. Here you’ll stay at the peaceful Hotel Fer à Cheval and dine on hearty mountain classics of the Savoyard region.
Day four
Friday on The Run To is traditionally known as driving day; there’s a reason why Monaco has been a prized destination for car rallies for over a hundred years. Heading into the High Alps, scenic roads await you and lunch will be served al fresco to make the most of the breathtaking views. The final leg is truly life affirming as the Maritime Alps give you the first sight of the spectacular Côte d’Azur. At the finish line in Vence, on the terrace of the incomparable Chateau Saint-Martin, a glass of champagne will greet you to toast your journey of over 900 miles. Helicopters will then whisk you to St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat for a celebratory seafood dinner.

Day five
At your leisure, highly polished launches will take you the short journey along the gorgeous coastline to arrive in style by sea at the Monaco Grand Prix. Our base is The Run To Monaco super yacht, berthed by the circuit, complete with a well-stocked bar and grill. Saturday evening is party time with live music, DJs and performers, making this the place to be in Monte Carlo’s Port Hercules.
Day six
After a leisurely breakfast, fast launches will be ready to speed you trackside for the main event. Run since 1929, the Monaco Grand Prix is the most iconic motorsport race in the world. The atmosphere is like no other, with the narrow track making the driving conditions particularly thrilling. After the race, a concierge team will be on hand to organise dinner reservations for you or tables at the best clubs. We can also arrange for your car to be transported home, leaving you to fly back in comfort the next day and start recounting tales of your unforgettable adventure.
