The seaweed secrets of ishga
What happens when a scientist and a beauty therapist meet a seaweed expert? They create an exciting skincare range of course. Teresa O’Farrell, spa manager at The Spa at Coworth Park, tells us why she’s excited to discover organic seaweed skincare brand ishga.
All about ishga
This Scottish brand represents everything I love about skincare; it’s organic, suitable for all skin types, grown in the UK and, most importantly of all, is highly effective. Their range has been developed in the remote Outer Hebrides, on the scenic Isle of Lewis, using the purest Scottish seaweed and natural spring water. In fact, the word ishga is Gaelic for water.

Therapeutic properties
Scientific tests have shown that pure Hebridean seaweed contains an abundance of natural antioxidants, which are known to have effective anti-ageing properties and help protect the skin. It’s impressive that the seaweed is harvested by hand and used in high quantities in all their products, from face scrubs to massage oils.
Keeping it natural
More and more of our guests have been asking about organic skincare, so I was delighted to be able to introduce ishga to The Spa at Coworth Park. Having done a lot of research on spa product brands, ishga was definitely my first choice. What’s more, it’s been incredibly popular from day one.
Active ingredient
Seaweed’s skin-friendly nutrients can be easily absorbed by the skin to deliver benefits where they are needed. Widely recognised for its ability to revitalise, repair and moisturise the skin, seaweed promotes a healthy, glowing appearance and is reputed to help with skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. We also use ishga in our cancer care treatments for those seeking recuperation before, during or after the effects of cancer treatment.

A few favourites
I’m a big fan of ishga’s Antioxidant Marine Face Cream. This was the first product they developed and it has a rich, creamy texture, smells wonderful and helps stimulate and preserve collagen for younger-looking skin. I love their award-winning hand cream, and their nourishing face oil is really relaxing and is a popular overnight product. I also like the Hot Poultice Massage treatment, it’s something a little different and the poultice can be used at home for a detoxifying bath.
I trust I’ve intrigued you to visit The Spa at Coworth Park and try one of our ishga spa treatments for yourself. There’s nothing like instant results to make a great first impression.
