Here’s an overview of some of the learning opportunities you could attend:
Engage is our unique induction programme. The first days of your journey with Dorchester Collection will be hosted by your learning & development team. You will meet your general manager and lots of other team members, and will learn about the history of your hotel with a detailed tour of all the rooms, public areas and the all-important back-of-house areas. Engage is the very start of our employee engagement journey, where you will learn our mission and values and all about our iconic collection of hotels, as well as completing any necessary admin to make sure you are comfortable and prepared to begin in your department.
During the first three months of life at Dorchester Collection you will be introduced to our exacting standards through a series of core skills learning sessions. You will learn how to deliver the ultimate guest service, advanced communication skills and how to recover the service when things go wrong. You will also be introduced to our personal development process where you will be able to receive detailed two-way feedback on your performance.
We achieve our mission through highly skilled and decisive leadership; we achieve that by attracting the best talent, then investing heavily in learning & development. When you join the leadership team of your hotel you will attend progressive training courses, some of which are detailed below.
Lead is our supervisor development programme for our team members that are new to leadership. Lead consists of nine classroom days spread over one year with structured activities to complete in between. Lead gives new leaders the skills and confidence to delight our guests and successfully lead their teams in line with Dorchester Collection mission and values.
Expand is our development experience for heads of department and high potential managers. It is a holistic and memorable three days where managers discover themselves and how they can positively impact their teams and business performance.
When you become an executive with Dorchester Collection you can look forward to attending an innovative development and reflection week, where our senior executives receive 360 feedback and personality profiles in order to discover more about who they are as a leader and to provide inspirational leadership to their teams.
At the forefront of our learning programmes is our mission, vision and values. This ensures all time spent learning is valuable to yourself and our business and has a measurable return on investment.
Our vision is to develop highly skilled supervisors and assistant managers who have the talent to lead and motivate a team to deliver the Dorchester Collection Ultimate Guest Experience.
The programme lasts for 18 to 24 months, depending on the location and level of the role. We have opportunities in our hotels in either the UK (The Dorchester, 45 Park Lane and Coworth Park), France (Le Meurice and Hôtel Plaza Athénée), the USA (The Beverly Hills Hotel and Hotel Bel-Air) or Italy (Hotel Principe Savoia and Hotel Eden).
Your placement will be in either: Rooms Division, Food and Beverage, Human Resources or Training Division. When you have applied you will go through our talent assessment process. You will also need to show us you have experience or qualifications at a supervisory/assistant manager level and that you are fluent in the language of your placement country, as well as English (if applicable). You will also need a valid work permit/authorisation to work in your placement country.
The programme will develop your performance in your chosen area, which will involve an individual development plan and a communication plan with a mentor and an on-site ‘buddy’. You will also have an executive sponsor and peer partners to support your development at Dorchester Collection Academy.

Placements will be based on best fit for candidates and property, and may begin January through to October annually, pending graduation dates and company placement needs.
As an undergraduate or graduate, an internship at Dorchester Collection offers: six to 12-month opportunities with a level of responsibility; an individual development plan; a variety of exposure to various areas of the business. We are always looking for ambitious individuals who share our values:
