Magical festive moments

December 16, 2020

Our general managers share their favourite festive memories to bring you all some holiday cheer.

45 Park Lane

“I love being at 45 Park Lane at Christmastime. The atmosphere is full of festive cheer and what’s really lovely is the camaraderie we have with The Dorchester, our sister hotel just over the road. I’ve built up a bit of a tradition over the years of having my Christmas lunch with two very special VIP guests. Once Santa and Mrs Claus have greeted all our guests and handed out presents to the children, we sit down together with the musicians for a late Christmas lunch at the chef’s table. It’s become an annual highlight for me.”

“My favourite moment is walking over the bridge and seeing the dazzling decorations on Christmas Eve. I love everything from the smell of eucalyptus burning in the fireplaces and the beautiful lights in the trees. I adore seeing families celebrating over a delicious meal and the kids are all excited in anticipation of what the next day will bring. It feels like the entire hotel is radiating happiness. If I could bottle that incredible feeling I would.”

Le Meurice

“For me, Christmas isn’t just a season it’s a joyful feeling, one I want to bring into the hearts of all our guests. Here at Le Meurice, the end of the year festivities are always a great celebration. There’s something for all senses, from twinkling lights to enchanting music and the glorious aroma of sweet treats. It really is the most wonderful time of the year.”

Coworth Park

“I particularly love Christmas Day itself, especially between lunch and the evening when our guests have enjoyed a truly indulgent feast and are relaxed and happy, either sitting comfortably by our roaring log fires or bundled up in coats for a stroll around the glorious grounds. There’s always a sense of enormous contentment rippling around the hotel, which is wonderful to witness and be a part of.”

The Dorchester

“From the moment the festive decorations go up there’s an air of magic that permeates our beautiful hotel. I love the sense of anticipation and celebration from both guests and colleagues. It’s almost as if there’s an extra sparkle to the days counting down to Christmas. I think this year, more than ever, we all need a little bit of that special sparkle you can rely on feeling at The Dorchester.”

Hotel Principe di Savoia

“My mission is to make the festive season at Hotel Principe di Savoia a memorable one for everyone. The atmosphere throughout the festivities is enchanting and it’s so rewarding to see the look of delight on our guests’ faces, especially the children. For them the real joy is Christmas lunch when they get to meet Father Christmas. It’s something so adorable that it brings out the inner child in us all and what could be more wonderful than that?”

Hotel Eden

“It’s a tradition here at Hotel Eden to celebrate the start of the festivities with our Christmas tree lighting ceremony. The moment it’s lit the hotel feels transformed and the joyful atmosphere stays with us throughout the festive season. This year more than ever before, my team and I are looking forward to cherishing this special time and making it memorable for all our guests.”

“I like to think of Christmastime at the hotel as a glowing experience. There are so many beautiful decorations and delicious festive treats to enjoy, it really is a very special time of year. The thing that truly sets us apart is the ice rink in our enchanting courtyard. Everyone comments how it makes them feel like they are stepping into a fairytale.”
