Planning the perfect wedding

July 15, 2021

When it comes to planning a wedding at Coworth Park, surrounded by picturesque the Berkshire countryside, there are plenty of ways to make your special day one you’ll always treasure.

Adam Smith, Executive Chef

Every wedding couple wants to look after their guests but it’s important that, as the bride & groom, you choose a menu you really like as it’s your big day. Booking a tasting session before the wedding is a great way to manage expectations.

I always personally oversee these at Coworth Park to ensure that everyone is happy with their choices.

What else is there to know?

My other important tip is to choose your menu according to the season, to ensure you get the very finest flavours. At Coworth Park I recommend our Romney Marsh lamb in spring, a wonderfully fresh crab salad in summer, a rich and indulgent chocolate fondant dessert in autumn and, for winter weddings, I suggest a classic beef wellington.

Last but not least, it’s a great idea to think about adding something that’s unique to you. For example, lots of couples create homemade favours to give to their guests. These are a great way to decorate the tables and add a touch of your own personality to the occasion.

Georgina Lawton, Events Executive

It’s a great idea to visit your chosen venue at the same time of year that you’ll be getting married, this makes it much easier to visualise your own big day. It’s especially important when considering how the grounds will look and what will be in bloom at that time of year.

I recommend choosing a photographer who is familiar with your chosen venue as they’ll know the best backdrops to choose for the most impressive pictures. If you’re set on a photographer who hasn’t visited your venue, it’s well worth arranging to meet them there before your wedding day so you can discuss your favourite locations. With 240 acres of grounds, filled with stunning photo opportunities, you wouldn’t want you to miss out on the perfect shot!

Consider how your theme or colour scheme is going to work with your venue. Here at Coworth Park we carefully chose neutral toned décor, designed to showcase rather than compete with any colour scheme you may have in mind. Beautiful flowers and candles all add to the look and help create a special ambiance that’s unique to you.

Maggie Xu, Guest Relations

If you’re looking for the perfect place to spend your wedding night, I highly recommend the Derby Suite in our Mansion House. This elegant suite is particular popularly with wedding couples as its balcony overlooks our picturesque parkland, making it our most romantic room and the ideal location to toast your future together.
