Take an interior design shop tour of Milan

Hotel Principe di Savoia
“Milan is a true metropolis: strong and fearless but welcoming, too,” wrote designer Giorgio Armani about the Italian city, which is a byword for style. Feel inspired as you wander with us through the city’s glorious interior design shops.

Ginori 1735

Ginori 1735 has been making hand-painted porcelain pieces for Italian aristocracy for more than two centuries and its precious heirlooms now grace the tables of the likes of Valentino. Revered for producing whiter china than Limoges, Ginori 1735 has reinvented itself as a fashionista’s favourite, collaborating with stars such as Luke Edward Hall. Located in the artistic Brera quarter, this store elevates displayed pieces to an artform, against a backdrop of chequerboard floors and porcelain chandeliers.

Raw & Co

The Milanese excel in ‘cabinet of curiosities’ shops and Raw & Co is no exception. Escape into a decorative world brimming with vintage pieces. Cabinets are evocatively lined with Gien china plates, pewter platters and candles, handmade Belgian linen and decoupage pieces. The glasshouse and canopied courtyard are an oasis of peace and poise. Raw & Co is more than a store – it’s a state of mind.

Rossana Orlandi Gallery

Rossana Orlandi Gallery is an alluring space that champions both established and emerging talent. The eponymous owner is a former art curator who has all of Milan following her every move. Hailed as a design mecca, the space includes a shaded courtyard and excels in showcasing the surreal, jewel-like pieces that Milan is known for. Highlights include mosaic benches resembling lace by Japanese designer Yukiko Nagai, vibrant wire cactus sculptures by Benedetta Mori Ubaldini and glazed Sardinian ceramics from Walter Usai. From starkly minimalist to innovatively flamboyant, each piece is a love song to exceptional craftsmanship.

Arjumand’s World

With her home recently featuring on the cover of design bible, The World of Interiors, textile designer Idarica Gazzoni is prominent among Milan’s tastemakers. Her eclectic fabrics are inspired by a fictional muse, Mughal Empress Arjumand, and her travels along the Silk Road. Stroll through the light-dappled showroom with its suzani-covered daybeds and delve into a dazzling assortment of tactile fabrics – fearless is the watchword here and we could not love it more.
