#DCmoments Los Angeles Shopping Guide
Alex Zouaghi, the passionate photographer, established blogger and endless wanderer behind the popular @a_ontheroad Instagram account, shares with us his favourite hidden shopping gems in LA.

Armadillo
Founded in 2009 by Jodie Fried and Sally Pottharst, Armadillo specialises in organic and sustainable rugs. All its wares are crafted from natural fibres, ensuring luxurious softness – and handmade using sustainable, energy-efficient processes, ensuring a light footprint on the planet.

Hollywood at Home
Located in the Cienega Design Quarter, Hollywood at Home showcases founder Peter Dunham’s unique taste in patterns and colours. Only a few minutes’ drive away from The Beverly Hills Hotel, the showroom is a treasure trove of wallpapers, pillows, accessories and furniture.

Abbot Kinney Boulevard
Want to immerse yourself in a quintessentially LA blend of beachy boho style and vintage cool? Head to Abbot Kinney Boulevard, a few steps away from Venice Beach. It’s home to some of the trendiest fashion, food, art retailers and independent brands around – and draws everyone from laid-back locals to famous faces.

Nick Fouquet
This boutique is an ode to the art of hat making, inspired by its eponymous founder’s travel adventures and childhood heroes. The result? Nick Fouquet creates true pieces of art that highlight his loyal commitment to his craft.

General Store
General Store has to be one of Los Angeles’ most beautiful stores. Inside, there’s an unbeatable selection of home goods, clothing, jewellery, and more – there’s even an apothecary and a children’s section. It’s a perfect place to pick up gifts for any occasions.

Amanu
Sandal-maker Amanu takes inspiration from connections – between people, between design disciplines, and between past and future. Each pair of sandals is handcrafted from tactile natural materials, and you can choose a readymade pair or have your very own one-of-a-kind design fitted to your feet.

Veronica Beard
Created by two sisters-in-law (Veronica Swanson Beard and Veronica Miele Beard), this boutique is cool, classic and deeply American at heart. Come for iconic, easy-to-wear pieces including dresses, shoes and accessories, and have a wander around the Design District while you’re here.

Shades of Grey by Micah Cohen
Founded by Micah Cohen, this is a brand that cares about its process. Each item is produced in small batches from family-run factories, aiming to provide a real alternative to mass-produced fashion. As for the style? It’s a blend of polished and casual, with an eye to timeless design that you can wear again and again.

The Last Bookstore
Head to downtown Los Angeles for The Last Bookstore. This haven for rare and secondhand books also has vinyl records to browse through and an art centre to explore. It’s the biggest new and used bookstore in California – but if you’d prefer something more exclusive, it’s also home to The Annex, where you’ll find an impressive collection of rare collectible books and art.

Rodeo Drive
It’s no surprise that Beverly Hills is home to a renowned destination for luxury shopping. With over 100 shops filling the elegant façades of its three beautifully designed blocks, Rodeo Drive offers up options for clothing, jewellery and accessory shopping alongside delicious dining, unforgettable experiences and more.

Santa Monica Farmers’ Market
A Los Angeles institution, Santa Monica Farmers’ Market is full of colours and life. Known by locals as one of the area’s best places to find organic and sustainable products, it’s also famously where LA chefs go when they want the freshest produce in town. It’s open on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
