Horse riding

Beautifully bred, well trained and immaculately presented horses are available for all abilities to ride across our 240 acre private estate.There is no end of opportunity to explore the beautiful Berkshire countryside from the unmistakable viewpoint of being on horseback. For those wishing to improve their riding ability further, we offer one-to-one or group lessons in basic riding, dressage and jumping on your own horses or on our selection of well trained schoolmaster horses and ponies.

Hacks & Special occasions

For the more experienced rider we offer a range of lessons, off-road hacking and an all-weather gallop track. And for the very young – our future horse riding stars – we love inviting you in for magnificent cuddling sessions with our gentle ponies. A one hour ride for those of all abilities, escorted by our highly experienced instructors and taken at the pace of each individual. From a sedate walk with a few opportunities to learn to trot for beginners, up to a good trot and canter around the estate for novice riders upwards. Champagne celebration ride

For a special occasion, or just because, how about an hour’s ride around the estate, stopping off at The Barn for a glass of Laurent-Perrier brut champagne and a photo opportunity upon your handsome steed? This is a treat for those of all abilities, escorted by our qualified instructors and taken at the pace of each individual rider. From a sedate walk with a few opportunities to learn to trot for beginners, up to a good trot and canter around the estate for novice riders upwards this ride is designed for everyone to enjoy the beautiful Coworth Park estate in comfort and safety on our beautiful horses.

Lessons for teenagers & adults

We’re fully kitted up to get you ready to ride. There’s nothing you need except trousers and excitement. You’re about to ride through a wildflower meadow and across green fields with amazing views of the gorgeous Mansion House. This is going to be something you’ll never forget.

Horse riding

We offer lessons on our experienced and well trained horses and ponies in all disciplines and are very much the best teachers for any rider wishing to learn. Our expert instructors will offer guidance and tuition throughout the session to ensure every client gets the most out of this rare opportunity to ride such kind and knowledgeable horses. All aspects from jumping to dressage can be covered, and your instructor will tailor each lesson to your needs.

Special Offer - Book 11 lessons for the price of 10

Regular non-resident riders can take advantage of the exceptional facilities, horses and instruction by pre-paying for a block of 10 lessons and earning a complimentary 11th session. Lessons do not need to be booked at time of purchase but must be taken within six months of purchase date. 100% cancellation fee will be applicable for sessions cancelled within seven days of the lesson start time.

Lessons for children

As well as an exciting way to explore, horse riding also adds fun variety to your exercise routine. It’s great for balance, posture, coordination – and gives your mind a complete break from its usual thinking patterns.

Pony experience

Coworth Park’s younger guests are invited to spend two fun hours at the stables. Here they will learn how to groom and care for their own special pony, tack up and go out for a fun riding lesson to suit their ability before taking home their own Coworth Park grooming kit bag filled with horsey goodies including a photo of them with their pony. This is one of our favourite activities as it’s always full of such happiness.

Kids riding lessons and hacks

Over sevens can enjoy a ride on one of our friendly ponies, selected carefully to fit their size and experience. They can choose what they wish to do, be it an hour’s hack across the estate or a lesson in basic riding, jumping or dressage. We want it to be an hour of utter fun so like to leave it up to you to choose how it’s spent.

Lead rein lessons and hacks

Riders from four years old can saddle up for half an hour on a perfectly prepared pony to learn the basics of riding and get to grips with the essentials of horsemanship. During their session they will be given one-to-one instruction from our experienced trainers. Feel free to take photos of the lovely scene!

Children’s Birthday parties

Our team of ponies and staff are waiting to create and host a perfect pony party for groups of four children or more. As well as a lot of cuddling they can brush and plait the ponies’ manes, paint their hooves and make their coats gleam before tacking up and enjoying some easy gymkhana games such as bending poles, sack races, apple bobbing and much more. They then re-fuel with a pony themed feast in the Coworth Park Kids Club and a bespoke birthday cake before kissing their pony goodbye and taking home their very own Coworth Park party bag and a lot of happy memories.

Five-star

Horse check-in

Because your horse deserves to be utterly spoiled, bring them along for their own five-star hotel experience. Their room will be kitted out with rubber matting and wood shavings, with your choice of hay or haylage. Throughout their stay they’ll be pampered, groomed and tacked up as required. We can also arrange escorted hacks, lessons and equine sports massages on request.

Please note, horses must be insured and vaccinated. Offer available for the duration of your stay, subject to availability.
