About

Your Milanese icon, full of Italian charm

Dominating the Piazza della Repubblica, our landmark Neoclassical building has been the natural home for international travellers and cosmopolitan society since the 1920s, priding itself on outstanding service and style.

1927

When the hotel first opened as ‘Principe e Savoia’ in 1927, its chosen plaza was on the outskirts of the ‘heart’ of Milan, but the location near to Stazione Centrale made it perfectly positioned for burgeoning business tycoons of the era.

1930

By the 1930s our grandeur and reputation for exquisite service had made us popular with international royalty, celebrities and world-renowned artists performing at La Scala, lured by the quiet setting among trees and tranquil gardens.

1980s

The hotel’s name was subtly changed again in the 1980s to our present name. Those who know us well though often affectionately refer to us as simply, ‘The Principe’.

1996

We continued to build on our success with three further floors in the 1990s, including our tenth floor in 1996, where our grand Presidential Suite and spa are located. In recent years the city’s new Porta Nuova district has grown up just behind the hotel and can now be seen from the spa.
