A mid-century baroque fantasy

An intimate and theatrical suite of party rooms designed by the wonderful Oliver Messel. Based on the enchanting ambience of Sleeping Beauty, this space is a magical wonderland, an adventure peppered with stylish touches to enjoy as the night unfolds.

HISTORY

The artist and designer

Oliver Messel was an English artist and theatrical stage designer whose lavish style is a cherished part of life at The Dorchester, a moment of fantasy to lift the spirits. Never one to stop creating, during the Second World War Messel was a camouflage officer, disguising guard posts as haystacks, castles and even roadside cafés.
