The Grill at The Dorchester - a modern British grill restaurant

First established in 1931, The Grill at The Dorchester quickly gained a reputation as the place to be for the finest grill food in London. In keeping with this original concept, Alain Ducasse’s protégé Christophe Marleix has created new seasonal menus.

Delicious dishes range from grill favourites alongside the restaurant’s signature blue lobster chowder and an extensive sweet soufflé menu – the first of its kind in London. Lively and welcoming, the re-imagined restaurant fuses The Dorchester’s iconic elegance with a contemporary tone and creative details. Interior architect Bruno Moinard was commissioned by The Dorchester to create a vibrant and timeless setting.

The restaurant features a striking, hand-blown Murano glass chandelier and contrasting natural materials including zinc, copper and marble, set against butterscotch leather and oak parquet flooring. Pivoting wall panels create a separate ambiance from day to night, creating an inviting atmosphere morning to night.

Dress code: The Dorchester dress code is ‘smart casual’ and we respectfully ask guests visiting the hotel to refrain from wearing baseball caps, beanie hats, ripped jeans, sportswear, trainers, flip-flops and shorts in our restaurants and bars.

The Grill Counter Wine Evenings

The Grill Counter wine evenings return this year, hosted by double act, head chef, Christophe Marleix and head sommelier, Ruben Desport. A total of seven guests will take front row seats for a wine and canapé journey, covering six pairings from a different region or theme each month.

The Grill Counter Wine Evenings are priced at £59 per person and include six 100ml glasses with canapés and accompanying samples from The Grill’s menu. These intimate events begin at 7pm and finish at 8.30pm.

Meet the Producers

The Grill at The Dorchester is hosting a series of evenings that provide a unique opportunity to meet the talented men and women behind the produce used in the restaurant.

During each of the evenings, produce will be displayed on the counter with the producer present, moving around the tables to answer any questions. Complementing the conversation will be exclusive dishes dedicated to each ‘Meet the Producer’ evening, creating an exceptional dining experience.

Wine Dinners

The Grill at The Dorchester is hosting a series of wine dinners throughout the year featuring some of the world’s finest wine and sparkling wine producers. The Grill’s head chef, Christophe Marleix, and head of wines at The Dorchester, Vincent Pastorello, have worked closely with the wine producers to create a canape reception and four course menu paired with the wines selected for the evening.

Wine Dinners are priced at £110 per person. Dinners begin at 7.00pm. Price includes VAT. A 12.5% discretionary service charge will be added to your bill.

Since 1797, Paxton & Whitfield has sourced and sold the finest British and Continental cheeses to the customers of St James’s and to London’s best chefs. Attendees will learn all about the company’s history, from its humble beginnings as a cheese stall in Aldwych market to gaining multiple Royal Warrants of Appointment and patronage from icons such as Winston Churchill, who once advised that “a gentleman only buys his cheese at Paxton & Whitfield”.

Guests will then be able to try a range of delicious produce and gain tips on how best to display, cut and serve cheese.

Owned by Lord Newborough, Rhug Estate is an award-winning, organic field-to-fork farm that has been producing some of the best meat and poultry available on the market since 2004. The estate is comprised of 8.000 acres of farmland in North Wales, supplying sought-after organic cuts of Aberdeen Angus beef, bison, chicken, salt marsh lamb and game to top restaurants around the world.

Attendees will enjoy a menu featuring prime produce from Rhug Estate, while learning more about the estate’s fascinating history and ‘circle of life’ philosophy behind their methods.

A native of Marseilles, Jean-Luc Columbo, first developed a strong admiration for the wines of the Rhône Valley in the late 1970’s while studying pharmacology. He went on to produce several Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) wines in the Rhône and is most well-known for his pioneering work revitalising the Cornas wine region. Colombo’s company now offers 27 wines representing major appellations of the Rhône Valley as well as the Languedoc and Roussillon regions of southern France. Most recently, Colombo has returned to his roots for his latest winemaking venture in the Côte Bleue district near Marseille.

In 2002, Patrick Mckillen acquired the Château la Coste vineyard and an idea was born among the vines, which rest 20 km North of Aix-en-Provence. The plan was to create a special place where land, wine and art could come together. Artists and architects were invited to explore the beauty of the landscape and create a physical reflection. As a result, visitors to the vineyard can see the ‘Pavillon de Musique’ by Frank O. Gehry, enjoy the Tadao Ando Art Centre Café and marvel at the large scale permanent sculpture by Tracy Emin, ‘Self Portrait: Cat in a barrel’.
